This makes for an even bigger issue for the indoor air quality.

In addition, there are many things in your home that can affect the reduced quality of air indoors. The most common reason for this is a leaking duct. These will then be blown throughout your house. If you want to prevent this from happening, you should call Peaden today to have your ducts repaired.

May 8th, 2019

iStock

You need your AC unit to cool down your home and keep everyone comfortable. However, if this is going to happen, you need to properly maintain your air conditioning system. If you don’t keep up with the maintenance, you will likely have to get many AC repair services. Before learning more about how to maintain your ac AC unit, you should know that Peaden can make any repairs if you are in Pensacola, Fort Walton Beach, or Panama City.

Cleaning the AC Outdoor Condenser Unit

The outside of your AC condenser unit should be cleaned once a year. This will make your AC unit much more efficient. It will also protect your air conditioner so you don’t have to make as many ac repairs. You can do this yourself or hire someone to do it for you. If you have plants, such as dandelions, growing around your AC unit, the cleaning of the condenser unit is even more important. If you have many grass clippings around the unit, the cleaning is very important as well.

Leveling the AC Outdoor Condenser Unit

Part of maintaining your AC unit is making sure it is level. Without a level AC unit, your unit isn’t going to work properly. In addition, without the AC unit being level, the refrigerant might leak. You should make sure your air conditioning unit is level a minimum of once every year. This is because the ground under the unit can change at any time, then resettle your AC unit in a different location.

Cleaning the Evaporator Coil

The AC evaporator coil is an essential part of keeping your home cool. These coils will take the moisture from the air, so your home isn’t humid. However, since these coils get moist from condensation, they can get dirty easily. If your coils are dirty, your AC unit may not function properly. However, these coils are quite easy to clean. You can do it yourself or have a professional from Peaden do it for you.

Changing the Blower Filter

Just as things in your home collect some dust, your blower filter will as well. If you never dust or clean it out, the air in your home is going to get quite stuffy. A lot of dust gets trapped inside the blower filter in a short amount of time. The good news is that you can easily clean your AC blower filter to improve the quality of the air in your home.

Now that you know more about properly maintaining your AC unit, there are few other things you should know. One question that is commonly asked is when should you call in the professionals. This is a great question. You can call in the professionals to do all the maintenance for your AC unit. This way you won’t have to remember to do it or have to worry about doing it correctly. In addition, if you want to call the professionals to make any AC repairs that would be a great idea as well.

Peaden has many professional AC repairmen available to help you today.

Air Conditioning Unit Ice: Why Is It Happening?

April 10th, 2019

iStock

Many people in Pensacola, Fort Walton Beach, and Panama City have found that there is ice on their air conditioning unit during the summer. It is so hot out and they don’t know why there is ice forming on their AC unit. This is much more common than you might think. There are two main reasons why this happens. The evaporator coil may have low airflow or the refrigerant levels may be low as well.

Evaporator Coil Low Airflow

You have an evaporator coil in your air conditioning unit. This is a very important part of your AC unit. The warm air will blow over your evaporator coil. The refrigerant will take away the heat out of the air. Then, the colder air will be sent back out throughout the home. However, if there isn’t enough warm air pushing against your evaporator coil, the refrigerant will become too cold. This can lead to the line on the refrigerant freezing up. There are various things that could cause this problem including the following:

  • A dirty or dusty evaporator coil
  • An air filter that is clogged
  • Blower fan issues
  • Leaky or collapsed air ducts
  • Blocked or closed air vents

If you call Peaden, we can check to see if any of these issues are happening.

Refrigerant Level Issues

Another reason why you may be getting ice on your air conditioning unit is when the refrigerant is low. When it is low, the temperature of the leftover refrigerant may drop down quite a bit, because of the lower pressure. This leads to the AC pipe freezing up. If you do have a low refrigerant level, it is likely due to a leak somewhere. You might see some problems besides the low refrigerant including the following:

  • Air leaking from the vents that is warmer
  • Higher energy bills
  • Hissing or bubbling noises from your refrigerant line

If you are noticing these issues, now is the time to call Peaden. If you think you do have a refrigerant leak, be sure to call Peaden right away. This isn’t good for your air conditioning unit or your energy bills. Our air conditioning experts can come to your home and repair the leak in your air conditioning unit.

Do you notice there is ice on your air conditioning unit? Are you noticing there isn’t as much cold air coming from your vents? If these are things you are noticing, you should call Peaden right away. You don’t want to experience higher energy bills because you haven’t gotten your AC unit in top working order. Best Tips On Avoiding Electrical Fires

February 28th, 2019

iStock

There have been some people in Pensacola, Fort Walton Beach, and Panama City who have lost their homes due to electrical fires. If you want to protect your house from these types of fires, there are some tips that can help you. One of the main things you should know before reading these tips is to always have a professional electrician maintain, look after, and repair your electrical systems. Doing these things yourself could increase the risk of an electrical fire.

Home Heating Risks

One of most common causes for electrical fires is with the home heating source. There are thousands of electrical fires that are due to heating equipment. If you would like to prevent this type of fire in your home, there are certain precautions you should take. The first tip is to have a professional electrician check your heating system regularly. Most electrical fires start with the heating system. Having routine maintenance and tune-ups done can lower the risk of this type of fire in your home.

You should also know that many electrical fires in homes start with space heaters. If you are going to use this type of heating, be sure the space heater is far from anything that could be flammable. You should also make sure the space heater is plugged into an appropriate spot. If you have a space heater plugged in, be sure to keep an eye on it at all times. By doing these things, you can lower your risk of an electrical fire.

Use of a Generator

Many people in the area have lost power during storms, especially ice and rain storms. When this happens, you might use a generator. These can be helpful. However, they can also increase the risk of an electrical fire. The number one risk of generators is that they will spark and cause flames. This is more common if you use old fuel in the generator. If your generator has been sitting around for months, it might be best to have a professional electrician look it over before you use it.

Cooking

Another one of the common reasons for electrical fires is cooking. Since cooking is a part of everyday life, you should be sure to have your kitchen cooking equipment routinely inspected by a professional electrician. You want to make sure everything is safe to use. It is important to have GFCIs places in all areas of your kitchen, especially with microwaves, ranges, water sources, ovens, refrigerators, and more. If these areas get overloaded with electricity, they could cause a fire.

These are some of the best tips on avoiding electrical fires. If you want to keep your family and your house safe from electrical fires, the best tip is to have a professional electrician come in for routine maintenance on all your heating systems and cooking sources. Peaden has certified electricians ready to come by for an inspection.
